The Boston Portuguese Festival (BPF) will host a special Portuguese-American celebration in honor of the Day of Portugal, of Camões and of the Portuguese Communities on Sunday, June 10, 2018, from 3:00 to 8:00 pm at Boston’s City Hall Plaza.
The diverse program of activities includes the visit of the Portuguese Navy’s NRG Sagres, a Lusitano horse demonstration, cultural entertainment, children’s activities, Portuguese cuisine, wine tastings, food vendors, and traditional folk dancing. The Program also includes special musical performances by Portuguese-American singer Jorge Ferreira, by Franco-Portuguese singer Chris Ribeiro, and many local artists.
The celebration in Boston – which will bring together local Portuguese-American businesses and organizations, cultural associations, recreational groups, schools and community members – will also include the traditional flag-raising ceremony, which has been an important event at Boston City Hall for over a decade, honoring the contributions of Portuguese-Americans to the City of Boston and across the Commonwealth.
The highlight of the festival will be the presence of Portugal’s President, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, Prime-Minister António Costa, and Vasco Cordeiro, President of the Regional Government of the Azores.
